Makeup Monday

Monday is winding down, but I thought I'd do a quick post about a product!
How about eye makeup remover!
We all use it . . . we have a love/hate relationship with it, right? I mean it's necessary most of the time, but sometimes it doesn't always feel so nice.
We try coconut oil or baby wipes.  Or we go really "old school" and just water with a wash cloth.  And sometimes all of those work. But let me shine a little light on the damage you can do to that precious skin around your eye by using the wrong product.
Did you know The area around your eye is called the contour & it's the thinnest and most fragile skin on your entire face.  It lacks the elastin fibers and along with the strain of 22 muscles and constant motion, plus 10,000 blinks per day, this area shows signs of aging first.
So therefore we should be really paying attention to what we use on our eyes and how we use it!
I see people putting tape on their eyes and pulling them... we use hard pencils and rough, cheap brushes. We rub them with wash clothes and abuse our poor whittle eyes! Well, maybe it's not all that bad, but we really need to have a better awareness of this tender eye area.  So it's a huge topic but let's just look at how we take off makeup.
There are a few products I would suggest work nicely.  You have to find what works for you, BRAVO.  We all want the same things, something that doesn't leave a greasy and oily residue, something that doesn't clog pores and something that does take off makeup easily and pretty much in one swoop!
Here are a few products I think do that!
1. Neutrogena Wipes.  These little things are actually amazing for taking off all your makeup.  They're about $7 and you get about 25.  It's a great option even if your have sensitive skin.  They're also awesome for on the go or travel. You can pick these up at your local drugstore or don't leave the house and order them from Amazon.

This  is a pricier end of makeup removers (Like 29 bones!), but there's a reason. It's ridiculously good.  It seriously uses the bi-phase technology to break down makeup gently and not leave a residue.  It's amazing for sensitive eyes.  This was my only choice for years and years ... Until I made my own! Blushed by Tami has a very, very, very similar product for a little less the cost ($24).  This Dual Action Makeup remover is my new choice and I love it.  No itchy or stinging eyes.

3. MAC cleanse off oil ($31).  This is also a makeup remover for more than just eyes so you could justify that price point a bit more.  It is an oil and most people cringe, but really it's a great.  It does not leave an oily residue.  I promise.  It does however break down oils and makeup so you don't have to tug at your skin and wipes it all way.  It also comes in a travel size, of 1 oz., which is especially nice for those world travellers.
So there have it for Makeup Monday! A little guidance on how to take care of your eyes! They are the only ones you're getting so don't tug and tape them!!
Leave me some comments about what you use to remove your eye makeup.  Good, bad and ugly! I want to know.  I'm sure there's a product out there I'm missing and I'd love to know about it.

Have a great week!

Tami

Pantone Color of the Year!

I'm definitely behind on this color of the year thing!! I mean I don't really believe in it, but there is something about having a fresh new look and a brand new color to base that around.  We all will take an excuse to buy a new makeup product, right?!

As far as wedding makeup goes, I would discourage brides to go with anything too trendy! Classic & Timeless makeup choices are best.  Now, don't get me wrong, you can incorporate Marsala in a myriad of ways into your wedding. And not just in makeup.  It definitely won't look "dated". For example . . .

But if you're just looking for makeup for everyday and need a fresh makeup-bag-makeover, basing it on "THE COLOR OF THE YEAR" is a great way to find something fresh & exciting.  So I've done some research just for you!

Marsala . . . Tada! It's not red, it's not burgandy.  It' s Marsala.  Kind of a currant color.  Which makes my first pick perfect -
Make up For Ever Blush
Make up For Ever cream blush in Black Currant.  It's a cream... but you'll get that gorgeous Marsala color when applied.  My bestie is contemplating the purchase of this blush as I write this. It's a splurge, but you could wear on your lips as well! It can be purchased at Sephora for $26.
There's a lovely little blog posted by Jolie.  You'll need to hit the translate button, but she shows you how to coordinate Marsala colored clothes and makeup with accessories! Brilliant!
She features on there one of my most favorite eyeshadow palettes from Dior.  Now let me just tell you there isn't a Dior 5- Colour pan palette that I have seen that I don't die for! I'm not kidding... I love every single one of them.  But this one is especially gorgeous. (and yes, I say that about all of them.)
Trafalgar 5-Colour Eye Shadow- Dior
Last but not least, a girls gotta have a lipstick (or a lip gloss).  This pick is from my line (Blushed by Tami).  It's a lip gloss that goes on nicely and plumps your lips! It's great sheer color with a little sparkle and it isn't sticky.  It glides on with a brush rather than a doe toed applicator.  That will give you a bit more control and the ability to build onto other lip products.  You can purchase Voluptuous over at my website for $15.
Voluptuous

So there you have it . . . The 2015 Pantone Color of the Year - Marsala.
You're welcome!

Winter Stylized Shoot

So most of the time I say yes to things & really don't know what I'm getting into! This was one of those, but I was pleasantly surprised by the entire experience.  I posted about this briefly in my first post, but wanted to share more of that day!
Carmen Hall, who has become a lady I cherish, is a local wedding photographer.  Her company is call Forget Me Knot Photography.  She approached me and asked if I could do makeup for a winter stylized shoot.  As I mentioned, I said YES!
When I arrived in FRANKLINTON! I was a bit nervous.  I mean I grew up in the south end of Columbus, but led a fairly sheltered life.  So all the warehouses and empty feeling the neighborhood of Franklinton can give, was a bit intimidating.  We were at 400 West Rich.  It's actually an amazing Urban Arts Center.  There's a great article here for a little history.  Once inside you feel the life of the community thriving.  Art is everywhere you look and art was taking place by us! It was a great experience.
Our bride and groom have actually been married 7 years, but volunteered their time for this gorgeous shoot.  We started right away with hair & makeup.  Kristi B. did hair & makeup by me!

The designer for flowers, linens etc, was Prema Designs & they were amazing.  I was in awe!

The cake was gorgeous too and done by Little Miss Cupcake.

And wedding attire provided by The Wedding Plantation.

So I know it's too many photos, but I had to share! It was a really fun day & I am glad I'm impulsive and said yes to things without thinking!

Blushed

I've been holding this post for VALENTINE'S DAY! What better way to spread love than sharing the passion I have for makeup! So a few weeks ago I decided to stop over thinking things and just start doing things! It's extremely uncomfortable. I feel a little like I'm skydiving out of a plane. I, number one don't like heights or number two, I don't like flying.
Needless to say its happening. I've been working on a cosmetic line.  I have partnered with a distributor and it's here!
BLUSHED by Tami
So I'm still working out a few kinks (this may not have been the project to skydive on!!!) But I have opened a Storenvy Store, I created a Facebook page & I put up a store on my website!
I have my first in home tutorial on February 27th, that my dear friend Jennyffer is hosting! What a dear! Also, I've had my first sale! Are you serious!? What!? Yay!
So like I said I still have lots to navigate and discover in doing this type of business.  I am fortunate to have a sweet friend that has been building her business for a few years now! I call her the T-Shirt Queen & I call her Sisser! She is Elizabeth! The designer and owner of PebbyForevee! PebbyForevee is a T-shirt and more company! She created it from scratch! I am in awe!!
Here's a few of her T-Shirts
Namaste In Bed (FREE US SHIPPING) | Pebby Forevee
These are my favorite.
Elizabeth took sometime with me yesterday & walked me through a few of the logistics she does on a daily basis! This girl is filling 40 plus orders a day! WHOA! She in my book is a Rock Freakin' Star. Oh did I mention she's also a single mom with a gorgeous baby girl, Harper!
Anyway, I am super grateful to her for helping a "sisser" out!

I'll try to feature a product weekly or monthly? What would you like to see? How about we start it off with a quick lip gloss . . .
This is Blushed by Tami's Plumping Lip gloss. . . this is not like other plumping glosses.  It doesn't have that stinging, tingling feeling.  It doesn't smell like cinnamon.  I'm actually allergic to cinnamon! (I know, weird). This gloss is almost like a lipstick; it's creamy.  It goes on pigmented and you can sheer it out if you'd like.  It has a hint of sparkle so it glistens but doesn't flash! It is delightfully flavored with cardamom and nutmeg.  So it's a light and lovely smell.  This beautiful lipgloss creates an illusion of a larger lip.  It is paraben free, gluten free (did you know that women consume about 4 lbs of lip products in a lifetime? That's another post!haha) It's also passover approved, hypoallergenic and tested by a dermatologist!
I love it! It comes in 6 nude shades that will look nice on anyone.  And almost the best part . . . it's $15.

Visit one of our shops and grab one, along with browsing our other awesome products!

Tuesday Tip from Tami

Well, I seriously, doubt I can do this every Tuesday... So let's just say once a month! I want to share a few tips that are second nature for some of us, but others really have never heard of these things! So.... Today I want to de-mystify the fiber lash.  Now no discredit to those products out there that are using natural fiber to enhance lashes.  If done right I think they can be quite nice.  It's just really not my personal preference.  (Those distributing  these producsts please don't send me hate mail. It's just not my flavor!)  I had a bride last year that used one of these products and it was gorgeous.
I have also seen a very spidery lash look and it makes me want to run!

I do know, the key with those products is like one coat not 10.  Less is truly more with those.

So how can you have full lashes without the spider legs?  So since false lashes can be a pain.  Here are a few ways to get the look without the hassle:

1. After curling your lashes, apply a thin layer of powder (baby powder, talc powder, your favorite face powder) before applying your mascara. You can sweep a small blending brush across your compact and apply it to the top and bottom of your eyelashes. OR... you could even use a q-tip (except you can get a little fuzzies from the q-tip).
2. Apply two coats of mascara to the bottom and TOP side of your lashes, but wait 3-5 minutes in between each coat, otherwise they tend to get clumpy (not pretty & similar to the above picture).
3. When applying your mascara, you don’t want to just move your mascara wand from the base of your lashes up. Make sure you are moving the mascara wand back and forth while going up. The left and right motion will make sure every lash is covered entirely, all the way to the tip. Wiggle that Wand!
4. Now, check your lashes for any gaps. Use the tip of your wand to apply another coat of mascara to individual lashes where they look sparse. And you're done!
You're welcome! I've been doing this for years ... I use baby powder and it wipes away nicely if any falls on my face without irritating my very sensitive eyes.
Happy Tuesday!

My Texas Bride

Most often I just adore the bride sitting in my chair. And then occasionally I have someone who's really great. The kind of great that I wanna go grab coffee with and be friends on Facebook with! Don't get me wrong I love all my brides (well almost all! There are a few I've blocked out of my memory but only like one or two. Haha) Yet there still are a few that linger in my mind, who look flawless and have a stellar personality. Some people you just click with.
Amber was one of the great ones.
Amber planned her wedding, a phenomenal wedding at NorthPointe  Conference Center, all from Texas. She was calm but nervous while I was putting makeup on her.  Soon she was being herself and relaxing.
She picked a classic bridal look and it was married perfectly with her beautiful dress. We went with a clean pink shimmer on her lid and accented her crease with a soft black.  Liner and Lashes of course.  Amber chose her own lipstick and gloss.  Amber accessories showed her Texas side - Big! Big, gorgeous pearls, on her neck and around her wrist. But the icing on the cake was her hair. I mean she was beautiful when I was done with her makeup but when she got out of the stylists chair! Wow!!! I mean knock-out stunning!
Ambers niece and bridesmaid were lovely too and it was awesome doing their makeup as well.
Aren't they the cutest?!?
Needless to say Amber and Brian are blissfully married and in Texas.
She was perfection! And a very memorable bride. I was so honored to be a part of her day.
These photos were all given to me by ShutterHead Studios. Michael at ShutterHead is amazing and did a wonderful job. He's one of the good ones. One of those who goes above and beyond at your wedding and is there if you need him. Amber's photos really reflect this. You see her and Brian's personality and even their wedding party's.

I have a few other brides that I want to highlight and can't wait!

2015 Best of Weddings!!!

Ok, so I promise I'll stop gushing right after this post!!! But really super excited to win The Knot's (of theknot.com - the biggest wedding site out there) Best of Weddings Award. Chosen by brides!! So I took this photo of my plaque ...
But then I was able to get nice web badges like this ...

It's a great honor to have so many of my brides take the time to review our company. Really it seems like anymore people need to complain because customer service stinks so much. I mean people just don't care. I seriously am in shock sometimes when I hear stories about unreal bad customer service.

I mean I know I'm being a little excited, but this award represents the highest-rated wedding professionals as reviewed by real couples, their families and wedding guests on The Knot!

Here's a little about how they choose the winners - In 2015, only 2% of the 250,000 local wedding professionals listed on the TheKnot.com have received this distinguished accolade. The Knot Best of Weddings 2015 provides an annual by-couples, for couples guide to the top wedding professionals across the country.

So to have brides take time and review in a positive, 5 Star manner, lets me know we're doing our job. Because we do care. And I want each bride to feel special and beautiful on her day!

So thank you beautiful people! I can't wait to see what 2015 has in store!

xoxo,
